Meeting report

14 March 2016

Stephen East

Hi everyone

It was great to see a good turn out on Monday night including the return of Emma and Lucy for a second look and Cynthia a first time visitor, all three are keen to join so our numbers are starting to increase which is great news and of course refreshing to see new faces with new and different stories to tell.

Adrienne was Tm for the night and showed her ever increasing ability as a well-rounded toastmaster running a smooth and seamless evening with a theme of St Patricks Day.

Ryan delivered his icebreaker which was well received and included a couple of interesting twists to his childhood years! Well done Ryan. Lisa started her new story telling manual with an adult version and slightly different twist on the fairy tale of Cinderella, it was delivered with great  poise and had obviously been well prepared. Table topics was run by Michael who offered an opening statement for “victims” to finish and expand on. Fantastic to see our guests Emma and Lucy pluck up the courage to give humorous accounts of two separate wedding they each recently attended. And Cynthia gave a great little mini speech on why she wants to join toastmasters. The evening concluded with sound and valuable evaluations from Helen and Buck with a general evaluation of the meeting from David Preston his first time at GE, delivered with his usual humour and wit that we associate with David.

No meeting next week, so that we are all available to support Helen and John in the area contest on Tuesday the 22nd at the Cashmere Club hosted by The Christchurch Club.

With Easter the following week our next meeting will on the 4th of April.

Have a great week and good luck to John and Helen.
