We were delighted to have seven guests to our meeting - Danni and Martin Toastmasters from Australia and Brent, Victoria, Murray, Alex and Racquelle. Unfortunately only seven members attended too! This was very disappointing. We have 20 members. Hopefully they will be there next week to enter the speech contests, take a role as timer or sergeant-at- arms or at least make an appreciative audience for the contestants. We have 4 judges and one test speaker coming from other clubs.
What would we do without Simon? He stepped in at the ast moment as Toastmaster, was also S/Arms and Table Topics Master. He read the Toastmasters Promise - to the converted? His TT theme was Armistice Day and the topics were cuttings from the Press on the table.. Victoria spoke on The Awful physical and mental aftermath, Lloyd on Selwyn; traditions for remembrance, Vita on Lest we forget - the Russian perspective, Alex on Insult after Injury and Murray on an Unsung Warrior.
Helen gave a light-hearted speech "What's in a Name" covering Jamie-Lee Ross, ideal names for politicians, names indicative of class, odd names and the importance of parents choosing wisely. She was introduced by Vita and her speech was evaluated by Lloyd.
Adrienne was bard and read a gripping excerpt from "Miracle in the Andes" by Nando Parrado. Michael was timer and Wendy gave an excellent general evaluation - her first.
