Meeting Report 5 September 2016 a group decimated by end-of-winter ills had a fun-filled evening with Ali Scott as an exuberant Toastmaster. Michael Shand our resident dentist gave an enlightening and entertaining speech about his voluntary work in the Chatham Islands, pulling and filling teeth 12 hours a day for 6 days a week with his wife Helen as his chair-side nurse. There was no time for any domestic arguments. Doreen Bestmann gave us the best possible Good News. She is pregnant. We all applauded. She described the good and bad symptoms of, and attitudes to, associated with pregnancy. As her evaluator self-styled mere male Lloyd said, we were honoured to share her good news.
